Social Futures Resilient Kids Program provides a range of free mental health and social and emotional wellbeing activities to build the resilience of flood-affected young people (aged 8–18 years) in the Northern Rivers Region.
When Nimbin Central School staff and students were impacted by both the 2022 floods and loss, Resilient Kids delivered a therapeutic month-long project for students and staff. The beauty of this project was that it focused on individual resilience building for young people in addition to the community resilience art piece.
The children were able to create a personalised wellbeing box with self-care strategies that they could take home, helping to promote self-regulation, as well as contributing to a permanent mural in the school.
