Social Futures CEO, Tony Davies, endorses the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide and its focus on achieving meaningful and lasting change.
“The Royal Commission’s work has shone a critical light on the systemic issues that have long plagued our Defence and Veteran communities,” said Mr Davies.
“Our Veterans Connect service is dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of Veterans and their families across the NSW Central Coast and Hunter regions.
“We understand the unique challenges Veterans face, and our experienced Care Coordinators are there to help set personalised goals, build resilience, and access the appropriate health, social, and community services available.
“We believe that the findings and recommendations of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide will pave the way for better outcomes in the future.
“While we recognise that reform will take time, we urge the government to act swiftly on the Commission’s recommendations to ensure that Veterans receive appropriate care, respect and support. Our Veterans and their families deserve nothing less.”
Social Futures acknowledges that the handing down of the final report may raise difficult thoughts and feelings for Veterans and we urge those needing support to reach out. Veteran’s on the Central Coast or in the Hunter Region can contact Veterans Connect by calling 1800 719 625 or emailing [email protected].
