Clubhouse to Career (C2C) is a program designed to help Clubhouse members plan for their future careers. Clubhouse works with young people on their career goals and helps to match them with universities that offer courses in fields of study they are interested in.

We’re sharing Clubhouse member Torren’s story, a 16-year-old from Lismore, who is turning his passion for technology into a future career with the support of Social Futures Clubhouse and the Clubhouse to Career (C2C) program.

At Social Futures Clubhouse, Torren began exploring advanced coding platforms, which sparked his passion for game design. Motivated to learn more, Torren reached out to B.E.E.R (Brewed Engagement Extended Reality) Labs – an interactive software development lab – to undertake work experience.

B.E.E.R Labs research and develop the latest video games, interactive experiences and industrial applications in the XR space.

During his work experience, Torren learnt how the Unity game engine works and how to code with C#, which resulted in him successfully creating a 3D platformer! The B.E.E.R Labs team also helped Torren find a university in Lismore that offers courses aligning with his aspirations.

This experience has given Torren a clear vision for his future career as a computer programmer.

The future of tech is bright, and Torren is on track to make an impact!

Social Futures Clubhouse is part of The Clubhouse Network, a program of the Museum of Science, Boston in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab.

Clubhouse Lismore (Youth Connections) is funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.
