Derm Ryan, Head of YACVic Rural and interim Co-CEO at Youth Affairs Council Victoria joined the Better Chances Forum on 17/1/24 to talk about YACVic’s Future Proof: Young people, Disaster and (Re)building Communities project funded in response to the Black Summer Bushfires, and the National Centre of Excellence in Young People and Disasters being established by YACVic and Victoria University.
We heard about ways young people have been involved in research and decision making about funding and projects, benefits of place-based responses, and possibilities for collaboration. This was a great opportunity to think about how we can elevate the lived experience and views of young people in our region and impact the disaster management agenda nationally.
