Lawn games, a chillout zone, sand art, a local DJ, and even an ice cream van added to the good vibes at Rock the Block, a youth-focused community event presented by headspace Tweed Heads. The pop-up event provided a space where young people could take time out to have fun, seek support, or ask questions about mental health and wellbeing while connecting with each other through creative activities and games, or just relaxing to the sound of some cool beats.
Young people from the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast came together recently for Rock the Block, a youth-focused community event presented by headspace Tweed Heads at Queen Elizabeth Park, Coolangatta.
The free outdoor event brought fun and connection to the forefront, with lawn games, a chillout zone, sand art, a local DJ, and even an ice cream van adding to the good vibes.
The event was proudly hosted by the headspace Tweed team, with strong participation from young people who helped shape and support the day.
Simone Balzer, Senior Manager of headspace Tweed, Ballina and Lismore, said the event was about “supporting mental health through connection, and creating a space where young people could take time out to have fun, seek support, or ask questions in a relaxed setting.”
“Events like Rock the Block are vital in breaking down stigma and encouraging open conversations about mental health and wellbeing,” Ms Balzer said.
