Words are just letters… or are they?

How important is language and representation, especially to marginalised communities? Incredibly.

Whether consciously or unconsciously, the language we use can perpetuate marginalisation and discrimination, or it can do the opposite. Language can empower, uplift and transform interactions toward more equitable, inclusive societies.

Can you imagine just for a moment though, feeling as though you, and others like you, were not represented in our language?

This has been the case in Australia for Sistergirls and Brotherboys.
