From brain injury to charity founder… Angela’s Story

In 2012 Angela suffered a brain injury when the lid of a camper trailer fell, trapping her head against the trailer. Once the physical injuries healed she was sent home from hospital with very little support – she fell into depression. Thirteen years later she founded her own charity, The Brain Injury Community, to make sure others are not left alone and unsupported – its main purpose is to create a community of people with brain injury to connect them together and heal social isolation.

The Brain Injury Community runs regular events in South East Queensland and now, with a little help from Social Futures Change Makers Program, she is bringing those events into Northern NSW.
