DrugSafe program overview

This free pilot program is being delivered by Social Futures in Singleton, Cessnock, Maitland, Kurri, and Muswellbrook.

  • Tailored workshops: We customise our sessions to meet the unique needs of your students and community, ensuring maximum relevance and impact.
  • Interactive and fun: Our workshops are engaging and practical, encouraging students to actively participate and apply what they’ve learned in real-life situations.
  • Focus on harm minimisation: We equip young people with effective strategies and help-seeking behaviours, providing them with the tools they need to navigate the challenges associated with AOD.
  • Community collaboration: By working alongside local youth services, we connect participants with essential support networks, enhancing their access to valuable resources.
  • Youth empowerment: We offer a platform for young voices to be heard, allowing them to contribute to future program designs and make informed decisions regarding AOD.

What makes DrugSafe engaging for young people?

We have the flexibility to deliver a program that works for your young people, and we will customise sessions to meet their unique needs. Here’s some ideas:

  • Running the program largely outdoors with more physical activities to meet the needs of disengaged young people or those with behavioural problems
  • Delivering the program outside in a yarning circle style with Aboriginal facilitators for Indigenous young people
  • Simple messages with non-verbal activities for young people with learning support needs
  • Accessible sessions for young people with physical disabilities

What options are there for workshops?

We have four programs that you can choose from to ensure maximum relevance and impact.

  • Powerhouse 30-min sessions
  • Weekly 60-min sessions
  • Half-day workshops
  • Full-day workshops

What topics does DrugSafe cover?
