Lismore Young Songwriters Competition

And the winners of the 2018 Lismore Young Songwriters Competition are….. (Drumroll)

Tahi White and Monica Brandolini!
These two incredibly talented performers are both pianists whose originality, composition and performance saw them take out the two big prizes worth more than $3,000 each. Both will have the chance to professionally record their songs thanks to Rockinghorse Studios and SAE Creative Media Institute Byron. They will also both be taking off to Splendour in the Grass with a friend, will be able to perform anywhere they like using their brand new RODE Performers Kit Microphone, and are also invited to bring a friend to NORPA’s show VIRAL next month.

There were five runners up – Ruby Robertson, E`an Lott, Sasha Manitta, Deep Honey and Mia Sansom who all received a RODE M1 performance microphone and microphone stand and a paid live gig at Crankfest.

The Judges Discretionary Award as well as the People’s Choice Award went to Goonellabah Band, Frequency. Frequency received a 4 hour recording package with Southern Cross University, TWO paid gigs – one at The Deck and Lounge Bar, and the other at the Heartbeats stage of the Lantern Parade, a professional photo shoot with Natsky, and tickets to the NORPA Show Viral.

All of the finalists also receive 12 month VIP passes to APRA AMCOS song writing masterclasses at Southern Cross University – the next masterclass will be presented by multi-Aria award-winning singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, Bernard Fanning. They also receive free entry into this year’s Dolphin Awards.

Thank you to all who supported this year’s Competition, which was easily the biggest and best to date. Organisers had to keep bringing in more and more chairs to cater for all the people wanting to see the show!

We will look forward to compiling all of the survey feedback we received and putting our thoughts toward next year’s event.

See you in 2019!
