Family Advocacy is traveling up the North Coast of NSW in September to talk with families and present information on inclusive schooling and advocacy skills. The workshops and information sessions in Grafton and Lismore are for families only to attend so that they are comfortable sharing their stories and asking questions.

Taking action for a good life – Tuesday 12 September 5:30pm to 7:30pm GRAFTON.

A 2 hour information session to explore effective advocacy strategies and to consider when and how to speak out for our family members. After all we could advocate for many things so being mindful of what we put our energy towards is important. We will also spend some time discussing advocacy in light of the NDIS.

One of the Kids – Wednesday 13 September 9:30am to 3:00pm GRAFTON.

This full day workshop on inclusive education provides key information to better understand the benefits of being schooled in the regular class. It will give you information around the research and history of disability education as well as the current funding supports available and how to make these work hard for your child. Advocacy skills specifically for the school years are covered with the whole day being co presented by a parent whose child is in the regular class at school. Previous attendees to this workshop have said, ‘ It exceeded my expectations. I feel encouraged, inspired and empowered’; The real life examples/ideas were very helpful and to have a parent guest speaker was invaluable’
