NCOSS is celebrating a significant win following last week’s announcement that the NSW Government will deliver a second phase of the Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF). The initial SAHF will generate over 2,000 units of social and affordable housing for NSW.
NCOSS looks forward to the next phase being even more effective as the learnings from the inaugural process drive improvements in SAHF’s second phase: “We’d like to thank all of our members for engaging with us through our Pre-Budget Submission (PBS) consultations last year and telling us what they wanted to see in the 2017/18 NSW Budget. The call for SAHF 2 was a key recommendation of the NCOSS PBS, so we are delighted that this will be delivered.”
“We know that the need for affordable, secure and accessible housing is an important issue for our members and the people we work to support. Meeting this need will take a multi-pronged approach and we will continue to work with our members and stakeholders to advocate for action. The market sounding for SAHF 2 will begin in the 2017/18 financial year. We will keep you up to date as more details emerge.”
With the NSW Budget being handed down on 20 June, NCOSS will soon know whether its other six PBS recommendations will be met.
