Introduction to Supported Decision Making – free one day workshop – Grafton

    In coordination with Social Futures, the NSW Public Guardian is offering free tailored workshops in northern NSW for disability services staff to promote the decision making rights of people with disability.

    This training will:

    • Be suitable for Team Leaders, Ability Linkers, Local Area Coordinators and Key Workers
    • Cover building the ability of people with disability to make their own decisions
    • Be considered in the context of the NDIS
    • Focus on effective steps and strategies for providing support for decision making
    • Discuss dilemmas and tensions, as well as strategies to address these
    • Be run over one full day
    • Offer additional train-the-trainer component for those wanting to take this approach further within their organisation

    Trainer Profile: Carolyn Smith works for the NSW Public Guardian in the Information and Support Team. She has worked in the disability sector for 20 years, has a background in education and is a strong advocate for upholding the rights of people with disabilities. Carolyn has been working on the supported decision making project for 2 years and has trained hundreds of sector staff on the supported decision making framework.

    Registration, Payment and Cancellation Policy:

    Registration is required to secure your place in Social Futures’ workshops. For fee-paying workshops, you may pay by credit card or by Electronic Funds Transfer upon check out. Your registration details will be confirmed upon receipt of your payment.

    As we are a not for profit organisation we are unable to provide refunds, but are if you are unable to attend, you may transfer your place to another person who meets the entry criteria. Please let us know of any changes to the participants who will attend.

    Workshops may occasionally be cancelled due to insufficient numbers. If this is necessary, we will notify you as soon as possible and a full refund will be given.
