Mijung Jarjums Kids in Mind

Promoting wellbeing and resilience in our children and young people.

Mijung Jarjums = Happy Kids in Bundjalung Language

We all want kids and young people to be well, happy and to lead full lives. But sometimes being a kid can be tough and there are times when we all need someone to talk to. Mijung Jarjums Kids in Mind is all about promoting wellbeing and resilience in our kids and young people. It’s about recognising when our kids need a little extra support and ensuring that those children who are vulnerable to developing mental illness, get the help and support they need.
Please note we are not a service for families in crisis or with complex needs. We can support families and children when other services are also involved in assisting with major issues. Our main role is in providing support at an early stage to help prevent emergence of mental health issues later on.

We are not currently accepting new referrals, please bookmark and check this page periodically for availability.

What can Mijung Jarjum Kids in Mind do to help?

We can provide flexible, responsive, non-clinical mental health support such as group work, counselling, long term case management and practical support.

Support is child and young person–centred while working in a whole-of-family context. Services are designed to reduce risk factors and to strengthen the protective factors which can facilitate resilience in children and young people. We will also deliver a number of different group work programs designed to promote family connection, wellbeing and resilience.

Our aim is to improve the wellbeing of children and young people and enable full participation in their community. We work closely with other local services to provide flexible and responsive service delivery individually planned around each child or young person.

Who is Mijung Jarjums Kids in Mind for?

Mijung Jarjum is an early intervention service, designed to support children and young people in the very early stages of experiencing mental health difficulty, to support and build resilience and emotional well being.

Eligible participants are children and young people ages 0-18 years who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of developing mental illness and their families and carers within the Richmond Valley and Hinterland area.
