People working with child protection and supervision of child protection workers are invited to a free public seminar Supervising Child Protection Practice: What Works? An Evidence Informed Approach, at Southern Cross University Gold Coast campus on 27 November, 2-5pm QLD time.
Caseworkers and carers are at the frontline in practice, working with the pain and powerlessness of children and their families who have experienced trauma. Supervisors must navigate complex organisational and practice environments where ambiguity and uncertainty may prevail. All this in a world which demands that supervision is evidence informed!
This 3 hour seminar, conducted by Dr Lynne McPherson and Noel Macnamara will:
- Present a model of supervision based on contemporary theory and research
- Address unique aspects of direct work with children and young people who have experienced trauma – and implications for supervisors and leaders
- Offer an evidence informed approach which brings ‘news of difference’ to supervision, offering hope and inspiration
- Launch their new book presenting an Integrative Model of Supervision
Location: Building C Southern Cross Drive, Bilinga (access via Terminal Drive, Gold Coast Airport)
This workshop will have a high level of relevance to new and experienced supervisors of practice in child protection and welfare, family support and foster care.
