Who is this training for? Anyone working or studying to work in the human and community services sector including: community and personal care workers; allied health workers; nurses; social housing workers; emergency services workers; family violence workers; case managers; assessment officers; volunteers; and managers.
What will this workshop do? In this session participants will:
Explore the societal context of elder abuse and the rights of older people
Identify elder abuse types and signs
Examine the complexity of elder abuse and barriers to recognising and reporting
Understand duty of care and appropriate action to take when elder abuse is disclosed, witnessed or suspected
Learn how to respond to reports of alleged abuse
Find out where to go for advice and assistance
