ACON Northern Rivers provides free Substance Support counselling for members of the LGBTI community on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in Lismore. The aim of the Substance Support Service is to reduce the impacts and associated harms of problematic alcohol & other drug (AOD) use in the LGBTI community.
The service also provides support to partners, friends and families who may be affected by this use. This service recognises the historical and cultural barriers to good physical and mental health experienced by members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community.
New counsellor, Derek Tys, is an experienced counsellor and accredited social worker. He uses a mix of therapies to support AOD clients including: motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, transpersonal counselling, and art/ expressive therapy.
Call Derek on 6622 1555 at the Lismore ACON office for more information, or to make an appointment.
